Weekly Recaps

Weekly Recap 3: 15/4/2018 – 21/4/2018

Hey all, and welcome to the third Weekly Recap! Sorry for the lack of recap last week, but I didn’t end up playing many games that week, and I was also preparing for my trip to Sydney for the Pixel Party picnic they had on! You can follow this link to see their Facebook album filled with photos from the event!

But for now, I think it’s time we get this new Weekly Recap underway!

Sunday: April 15th, 2018

So this was the day I flew back over from Sydney, but I still managed a bit of gaming on this day, especially seeing as soon as I got home, I set up my new Razer Ripsaw capture card that I picked up while in Sydney, which I used to test stream some PS4 gameplay via XSplit, but that wasn’t the first game I had played on this day.

Bravely Second: End Layer (3DS):

With my love for JRPGs already being as great as it is, being able to play such a good one while on some form of trip via my 3DS is a godsend for me!

Bravely Second: End Layer, developed by Silicon Studio and released in April 2015, is a great JRPG for fans of the genre, and new-comers, with 3 difficulty options to choose from, there’s something here for everyone!

I’m not really too far into the game myself, having only clocked about 8-9 hours of total game time, I’m slowly slogging my way through the story, but I’m also taking the time to check out the side quests as they become available to see everything the game has to offer, and I have to say, I’m definitely impressed so far.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4):

And then came my test stream of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

Honestly, I only played for about an hour at most on stream, as I wasn’t really streaming it to make some progress, but moreso just to test how the Razer Ripsaw runs with streaming, and I have to say, I’m really impressed with it so far.

No story progress was made this stream, but that will change in due time.

Monday: April 16th, 2018

First day back at work after my trip, nothing really noteworthy happened today, was really cruisy which was a nice way to get back into work.

Didn’t play many games this night either, just did another test stream of Dissidia Final Fantasy NT to ensure my one stream with the Razer Ripsaw wasn’t just a one-off that I couldn’t get working again.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4):

Playing this on stream tonight, I actually made an effort to try and progress through the story some, which actually led me to my first Story Mode boss fight which I didn’t actually expect!

The gameplay for the bosses is changed drastically from how the rest of the game is played, and it actually feels like more of a Kingdom Hearts hidden boss kind of thing, especially with how difficult this boss was! I’ll definitely be coming back in the future to beat this one finally.

Tuesday: April 17th, 2018

Today at work sucked, it was stressful, it was long, and I wanted to leave on multiple occasions as I’m not the best at dealing with stress.

However, I managed to get home alive, and I had decided that on this night, I was going to stream some Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3, and that’s exactly what I did!

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation (PSVita, PC):

We made quite a bit of progress on Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 tonight! Cleared Chapter 3 and reaching a new point in the story, unfortunately as soon as I finished Chapter 3, the game was all cutscenes up until I finishes the stream for the night but when we get back to it, there’ll hopefully be more stuff to do!

Wednesday: April 18th, 2018

I don’t know how it happened, but today at work managed to both me worse than yesterday, but also one of the best days I’ve had there so far, it’s weird.

But with today also came some streaming of Final Fantasy XIV, so let’s get into that!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PC, PS4):

Final Fantasy XIV, god damn I actually love the hell out of this game.

This game has been the main MMO I’ve played, having stuck with it through most of 2015, and playing very on and off during 2016 and 2017, I’m making an active effort to try and get back into it as I try to create a Guild/Free Company in the game for the Pixel Party community!

But enough about that, Final Fantasy XIV, an MMORPG developed by the folks over at Square Enix who do a LOT of amazing games, is exactly what it sounds like, an amazing MMO experience in a Final Fantasy themed world, and it’s done amazingly!

Playing this on stream, I started fresh with a new character, and with that a new class as well. Generally when I play FFXIV I run a DPS role or class, usually Lancer, but for this new character, I decided to test my luck with the Healer role and started off as a Conjurer and am actually really enjoying it so far.

Definitely looking forward to tackling more of this great game on stream in the future, but that did it for me tonight as I had a good 3 hour run of this on stream with my good buddy Whipflash!

Thursday: April 19th, 2018

Well, I had to come home from work early today, felt like absolute crap. Immediately took an hour long nap as soon as I got home so I definitely needed the rest.

But, I still planned on doing some form of gaming tonight, whether it was just playing a game off-stream, or if I got well enough to give streaming a go for the night, I wanted to play something.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PC, PS4):

That’s right, I decided to tackle out some more Final Fantasy XIV, seeing as my Twitch chat mod Taka was finally able to jump on tonight, he made a start on his character and starting up the story whereas I decided to pick up the Archer class to have a DPS role class available to me, and levelled that up some while waiting for Taka to progress in the game.

Friday: April 20th, 2018

I was home sick all day today, turns out the flu had been making it’s rounds around the office at work, and I had picked it up, which is probably why I had felt like complete crap on the Thursday before I came home, but I quickly made efforts to get rid of it and I’m feeling heaps better!

On today’s agenda, if I had gotten better, I had planned on doing a stream after dinner, although I hadn’t decided on what game to tackle yet, all I knew was I was going to either progress in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, or take on some more Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth3, so let’s see where that went!

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4):

Didn’t end up streaming it tonight, but I did end up starting to beat some of the Story Mode bosses, in an attempt to progress the game. While I was initially trying to save the bosses for on stream, this wasn’t a game I had started on stream so I decided to continue off-stream with it.

And also I didn’t realize that you can’t repeat the boss fights once they’re done, unless you complete the story and unlock the ‘boss mode’ (At least, according to my Google searches this is the case).

But yeah, I had a bit of fun with Dissidia tonight, cleared some boss fights, progressing in the story, good times.

Saturday: April 21st, 2018

Glorious, glorious Saturday, most, if not all people look forward to Saturday as their day to relax, unwind and just have some fun, and that was no different for me.

For today, the plan was to have one of my Twitch chat mods, RamXE come visit and we smash out some Dissidia and take on the rest of the story, and I think we decided we might do so in an afternoon stream of some form.

But until then, I wanted to play a bit of Final Fantasy XIV!

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (PC, PS4):

Yep, I played a bit of Final Fantasy XIV, and actually did a decent amount this time too! I have 3 classes/roles up to level 15+ now, as I have Conjurer for my Healer, Archer for my DPS, and as of today, Gladiator for my tank.

Conjurer will continue to be my main class for this character, but having the variety will definitely help for when we eventually start a Free Company/Guild and start to need people to fill different roles for dungeons/trials/raids and whatnot!

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (PS4):

Once RamXE had arrived, we shelled out quite a bit of Dissidia, we played the hell out of the Story mode and beat the 7 main Story mode bosses, unlocking the Boss Gauntlet mode which is gonna be interesting.

Alongside that, I discovered that I was going up against bosses with a strategy that didn’t involve much blocking, I had been trying to dodge everything but didn’t make any efforts to block any attacks, which after I had started doing so, helped a lot!

End of Week 3
